Language Lives - A Book Festival for the Lovers of Words and the Art that Accompanies It is an extraordinary four-day celebration of literature and art taking place in Ipswich, Massachusetts, from October 5th to October 8th, 2023. This unique festival coincides with Ipswich Illuminations, a beloved annual event in its 14th year, offering a fusion of interactive art installations, live music, poetry, projection, bonfires, and more along the picturesque Ipswich River.

The Language Lives Festival unfolds in three captivating parts:

Poetry Showcase (Thursday, October 5th, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm): Kick off Illuminations 2023 at Ebsco Hall with an enchanting evening of verse, spoken word, and lyric poetry. Poets and writers of all styles are invited to share their work during 3, 5, or 8-minute blocks. This event is open to the public, and registration is available online.

Live Storytelling (Friday, October 6th, 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm): Dive into the world of storytelling as it comes alive at Ebsco Hall. The evening begins with family-friendly stories of illumination, followed by tales for teens that take you back to high school or college, and concludes with stories focused on language and communication for adult audiences. Notes are welcome, and authors and storytellers can sign up for 5-minute slots.

Weekend Festival Exhibit Hall (October 7th-8th, 2023, 11:00 am – 6:00 pm): Ebsco Hall transforms into an immersive Exhibition Hall where words and art merge to create captivating images and stories. Throughout the weekend, the stage hosts talks, book signings, and engaging activities. Keep an eye on the schedule for details on this diverse and exciting program.
